Starfield’s Long-Term Support and Annual Expansions Planned by Todd Howard

In a recent statement, Bethesda’s Todd Howard revealed his vision for Starfield’s future, stating his desire to provide long-term support for the game and release annual expansion drops.

The September 2023 release of Starfield was one of the most highly-anticipated Xbox exclusives for the current generation. Despite some initial criticism, the brand-new Bethesda IP was ultimately a success story. While it may not have received universal praise, the game exceeded the expectations of its developers.

Despite receiving mixed reviews from players on major video game review sites like Metacritic, Starfield has proven to be a major financial success for the company and even secured the 11th spot on the list of top-selling games for 2023 according to Bloomberg’s analysis.

In addition, players are eagerly anticipating the release of the first major story DLC for the game, Shattered Space. Bethesda boss Todd Howard has also revealed that the company has significant plans for ongoing support of the game.

During a recent interview with YouTuber MrMattyPlays, Howard revealed that Bethesda is already in the process of developing a second DLC for the game, even though Shattered Space has not been released yet. He also expressed the company’s goal of releasing new expansions every year.

“Howard stated that we are aiming to continue for a considerable amount of time, and we are currently planning for the next one as well, ensuring that there will always be a future for us.”

Additionally, the director of Bethesda revealed insights into the company’s approach to creating new DLCs for Starfield, emphasizing their efforts to introduce fresh elements and make amends for previous mistakes.

“Our goal is not necessarily to answer every question, but rather to determine a unique angle and enhance the game with an enjoyable experience and tone.”

Despite their similar approach with new Fallout content, Howard reiterated that the studio is not in a rush to roll out ongoing support for Starfield, just like they did with their previous game.
