During an interview, GOT7’s BamBam shared that his initial earnings were dedicated towards supporting his family. He explained, “I used the money to purchase gifts for my loved ones. I was able to buy my parents a two-story house in Bangkok and a car for my younger sister, who has a lengthy commute.”
Upon receiving his first earnings, BTS’s V chose to express his filial piety. During a broadcast, he shared, “My father has been involved in the clothing industry for many years. He would often make trips to Dongdaemun in Seoul to purchase and sell clothes, which involved a lot of traveling. While on a trip together, I noticed that his car’s odometer had reached 500,000 km. This prompted me to buy him a new car.”
After debuting with the group UP10TION, Singer Kim Woo-seok used his first earnings, which he received five years later, to pay off his parents’ debt. He expressed gratitude towards his parents for their support during that time, and shared that he was able to pay off their 100 million won debt with his first earnings.
Despite wanting to treat himself with his first earnings, he was unable to do so due to the limitations brought on by COVID-19. Instead, he turned to a delivery app and indulged in a pufferfish set, which cost 128,000 won per serving. He even ordered two servings, making it the most extravagant purchase he made after receiving his paycheck, much to the amusement of those around him.
Singer Chuu recalled, “Upon receiving my first paycheck, I immediately gave my parents an allowance. It was a defining moment for me, as I finally felt like a responsible adult. Furthermore, obtaining my driver’s license allowed me to take my parents to the terminal whenever they came to visit, which brought me great satisfaction.”
When asked about her first personal purchase, she replied, “I can’t recall the exact details, but I believe I waited quite some time before treating myself. Instead of having a specific item in mind, I was content with ordering a few of my favorite dishes and savoring them without any sense of urgency.”
Leeseo, the youngest member of IVE, revealed, “I purchased a washing machine and dryer set for my parents. I enjoy shopping with my mother, so I got her exactly what she wanted.”Upon hearing this, Kim Jae-joong, a senior member, remarked, “This is a perfect example of how important it is to raise children well.”
