On August 16, a video was posted on Choi Hwa-jeong’s YouTube channel featuring actor Ha Jung-woo. In the video, Jung revealed that he had been deceived by a longtime close friend of 25 years.
Despite being a well-known celebrity, Kim Jong-kook also fell victim to a scam by someone he knew. He had previously revealed that he had invested a large sum of money based on a friend’s deceptive suggestion. Expressing his regret, he stated, “I trusted my friend’s advice, but it turned out to be a mistake. After that experience, I decided to focus solely on my work and not get involved in anything else.”
Lee Min-woo of SHINHWA revealed that he had been deceived by a long-time friend of his sister and lost all of his belongings. He shared that he had known this person for two decades and the constant emotional manipulation and verbal abuse took a toll on him. He also mentioned struggling with a stutter and feeling intense anger towards anyone who reminded him of the culprit.
Lee Min-woo shared, “During the time I was being gaslighted, I struggled to fall asleep and resorted to taking medicine and crying extensively. I also lashed out and even ended up hurting myself while venting my frustration towards the perpetrator. It was an incredibly difficult experience.”The perpetrator then demanded nearly 200 billion won from Lee Min-woo’s older sister, who recounted, “The perpetrator requested that I repay the sum of nearly 200 billion won and even suggested using the bond as a means of payment. I was even forced to hand over Min-woo’s public certificate and seal.”
“Lee stated that he attempted suicide as a result of mental distress. However, he was unable to follow through because his family meant more to him than anything else. He felt a strong responsibility to take care of his family. Lee Min-woo’s sister also revealed that he had written a suicide note and entrusted her to give it to the person responsible if anything were to happen to him. He then went to the Han River.”
