On July 26th, Yoo Ah-in’s attorney, Bang Jung-hyun from the law firm Dongjin, released an official statement denying the allegations made against Yoo Ah-in.
Yoo Ah-in’s representatives additionally stated, “We urge individuals to avoid making unnecessary assumptions about his personal life.”
Recently, the Seoul Yongsan Police Station released a statement stating that Yoo Ah-in had been charged with sexually assaulting a man in his 30s (quasi-rape).
The police have reported that a man, identified as A and in his 30s, has stated that he was sexually assaulted by Yoo Ah-in on July 14th at an officetel in Yongsan-gu, Seoul. As per current laws, same-sex sexual assault falls under the category of quasi-rape.
Currently on trial for drug use, Yoo Ah-in is also being investigated by the police for potential additional drug use in relation to this case. The accuser, A, has allegedly tested negative in a preliminary drug test.
According to a police official, they have not yet reached out to the accused (Yoo Ah-in), but they intend to summon him for questioning in the near future.
Last October, Yoo Ah-in was charged with habitual use of propofol, purchasing sleeping pills under someone else’s name without a prescription, smoking marijuana, and instigating the destruction of evidence. He was not detained during the indictment.
Currently, Yoo Ah-in has acknowledged some involvement in the marijuana smoking charge, but has denied any involvement in other charges such as instigation of marijuana smoking, instigation of destruction of evidence, abetting violation of the Narcotics Control Act, and fleeing abroad…
The prosecution sought a four-year prison term for Yoo Ah-in on charges related to drugs.
