SteamWorld Heist 2: Gameplay and Story

Just like its predecessor, SteamWorld Heist 2 is a turn-based tactics game. However, unlike the previous game which had a space setting, this installment is set on the high seas. According to the game’s Steam description, players will join Captain Leeway and his crew as they embark on a mission to uncover a mysterious threat in the Great Sea. With this in mind, players can anticipate a thrilling pirate-themed adventure complete with naval battles and opportunities for treasure hunting.

The gameplay in SteamWorld 2 Heist will be recognizable to those who have played the first installment. As before, players will engage in turn-based gunfights against enemies, where strategic aiming is crucial in order to bounce bullets off surfaces and strike rival robots.

The job system, a new addition to the sequel, grants crewmates unique capabilities and expands the range of customization and strategic possibilities. As seen in the reveal trailer, players can expect to choose from a variety of 6 classes, such as Brawler, Boomer, Engineer, Sniper, Reaper, and Flanker.

Regarding customizations, SteamWorld Heist 2 will continue the tradition of its predecessor by emphasizing hats. Gamers will once again have the opportunity to shoot off enemy hats and don them for themselves, while also having the option to purchase different hats. The trailer showcases crews sporting coordinating top hats, fruit hats, and fish heads, hinting at an abundance of eccentric choices for players to journey in fashion.
