Stranger Things fans are really worried after Cobra Kai reveals big change

The release schedule for Cobra Kai Season 6 was recently announced on Netflix, causing concern among Stranger Things fans about the length of time it will take to watch Season 5.

Thanks to Netflix’s pioneering of the binge-watch model, shows like Stranger Things and Baby Reindeer have become huge successes as viewers sit down for extended television sessions, leading to widespread word-of-mouth recommendations.

Despite the constant activity in the marketplace, there have been some slight changes. The final season of Cobra Kai will be divided into three parts, each consisting of five episodes. The first part is scheduled to be released on July 18, followed by the second part on November 28, and the final part sometime in 2025.

The decision has elicited a mixed reaction. Similar to the backlash received by Season 2 of Invincible, some individuals are displeased with the prospect of having to wait for the remaining episodes, while others view it as a positive aspect. Releasing the entire season at once would eliminate the anticipation for future episodes.

Nonetheless, Stranger Things enthusiasts have expressed worry over the possibility of a three-part rollout for Season 5. This speculation was sparked by a tweet from a lesser-known source on X/Twitter in the beginning of 2023, which hinted at the idea of the fifth season being divided into several volumes and potentially even having a separate release for the finale.

“A Twitter user suggested that Netflix may follow their trend of splitting final seasons into multiple parts by doing the same for Stranger Things 5. The user speculated that the first part, Vol. 1 (1-4), could potentially be released in July 2025, followed by Vol. 2 (5-7) in December 2025. The series finale (8) could potentially be released in July 2026, with the possibility of a theatrical release as well.”

While Netflix does not prioritize theatrical releases, a few of its original films do receive limited runs in theaters outside of the main cinema chains. In November 2022, Season 4 Volume 2 of Stranger Things was screened in cinemas to celebrate Stranger Things Day. Given the immense excitement surrounding the show’s finale, which could arguably be considered the biggest TV finale of the last decade, a theatrical release may not be completely ruled out.

“After noticing the final season of Cobra Kai was released with a gap of over four months between parts, I can’t help but wonder about Netflix’s plans for the upcoming season of Stranger Things,”one Twitter user pointed out. “If they are approaching Stranger Things in the same way as Cobra Kai, the anticipation for the final season will be even greater,”another user added.
