It seems that Season 5 will feature a considerable time lapse, occurring roughly a year after the occurrences in Season 4.

It’s to be expected that the show would utilize a time jump for its final season, given that each previous season has spanned approximately one year.
Season 1 occurred in 1983, followed by Season 2 in 1984. Season 3 then depicted the events of the Summer of 1985, while Season 4 took place during Spring Break of 1986.
Additionally, during an interview with TVLine, the Duffer Brothers, the creators of Stranger Things, revealed that they had planned on incorporating a time jump into Season 5. They explained that this was necessary as it was not possible to film both Season 4 and 5 consecutively.
Despite this, the timing of the final season has left some fans perplexed. One fan expressed on Twitter, “Honestly, I thought it would pick up right after the S4 finale based on how it ended.”
Season 4 concluded with the primary characters, with the exception of Max Mayfield, who was in a coma, preparing for a grand confrontation with Vecna. The malevolent entity had already begun to dominate Hawkins from the Upside Down.
One year after the cliffhanger, Season 5 could begin and allow viewers to witness the group’s worsening situation. However, the show’s handling of this time jump will not be revealed until 2025.
