Best Gimmighoul 5-Star Tera Raid Counters in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet
Annihilape
Annihilape debuted in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet and quickly became a fan-favorite attacker.
Annihilape, the Ghost/Fighting-type evolution of Primeape, is a highly recommended choice for Tera Raids, regardless of the opponent Pokemon. It possesses the ability to inflict significant damage on Gimmighoul, enabling you to defeat it with ease using its signature move, Rage Fist.
To prepare for Gimmighoul’s potential super-effective Ghost-type moves, make sure to give Annihilape a Shell Bell. Additionally, consider teaching it moves such as Bulk Up and Screech for the initial turns. These moves will raise Annihilape’s Attack and Defense by one stage and decrease Gimmighoul’s Defense by two stages, respectively.
Game: Meowscarada
Meowscarada guarantees critical hits with its signature move.
If you have chosen Sprigatito as your starter, then Meowscarada would be an excellent choice for the Tera Raid Battle. Its Dark/Grass typing gives it resistance against Ghost-type moves, making it a strong contender. Additionally, Night Slash is a powerful Dark-type move that receives a Same Type Attack Bonus, making it highly effective.
Meowscarada’s Flower Trick is a powerful signature move that consistently lands Critical Hits. It can be a valuable choice for dealing neutral damage or taking advantage of Gimmighoul’s weakness to Water, Rock, or Ground Tera Types. Boosting its Attack and Accuracy with Hone Claws early on will make it even more effective in defeating Gimmighoul.
Kingambit
Kingambit is tough to get but totally worth it.
Kingambit, being a Dark/Steel-type Pokemon, is an excellent choice for this Raid as it can resist all of Gimmighoul’s attacks. To maximize its effectiveness, it is recommended to begin the battle by using Swords Dance to boost Kingambit’s Attack. This will allow it to deal significant damage with its STAB move, Kowtow Cleave. Alternatively, Shadow Claw is also a strong option if you encounter a Gimmighoul with the Ghost Tera Type.
Despite Gimmighoul having a different Tera Type every time it is challenged in Raids, the most effective counters are those with high resistance to its moveset rather than relying on super-effective damage against it.
Gimmighoul Tera Raid moveset
- Take Down (Normal)
- Shadow Ball (Ghost)
- Hex (Ghost)
- Power Gem (Rock)
- Nasty Plot (Dark)
It is important to choose counters that can withstand Ghost-type moves, as they pose the greatest threat in Gimmighoul’s arsenal. Moves such as Take Down and Power Gem should not be a problem, especially if you use Terastallize during the Raid.
Please note that this moveset is derived from the past Gimmighoul Tera Raids in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. We will ensure to revise this section if it is modified for the upcoming event.
