In Hades 2, Hecate serves as a guide and teacher to Melinoë, the main character. As the Witch of the Crossroads, she is the initial boss that players will face. Here are some tips on how to defeat her.
How to Defeat Hecate in Hades 2
As the health bar decreases, the boss will transition between two distinct phases, each of which features three different attacks. The initial phase may seem simple, but it can quickly become overwhelming.
During the initial phase of her fight, Hecate has the ability to summon a circle around herself which can either explode, shoot multiple flaming arcs towards the player, or create three clones that shoot fiery projectiles. These attacks can be avoided by dashing and using ranged attacks when available. It is possible to damage her during her clone phase, but the clones will remain unharmed while the real Hecate will show damage numbers.
During the second phase of Hecate, players can summon spirits while being invulnerable, create an exploding magic circle at their current position, or shoot an orb that transforms them into a sheep. The spirits can be easily defeated to break Hecate’s invincibility, and players can continuously dash to evade the magic circle.
The sheep orb is difficult to avoid and even when players are transformed into sheep, they are still able to dash and use basic attacks with limited range. It is recommended to continuously dash and refrain from engaging in combat as a sheep until the spell expires.
The duration of the battle can vary greatly depending on the number of boons you possess. It is crucial to accumulate a sufficient amount of boons and health upgrades prior to engaging in the fight to increase your chances of success. Each victory against Hecate will earn players one Cinder, and this reward will continue to be granted after subsequent defeats.
