In Metaphor: ReFantazio, the Spektos stands out as an unexpectedly unimpressive yet formidable boss. After a significant chase through the cathedral leading to the confrontation with the Necromancer, you find yourself up against the Spektos near the crystal. These foes pose a significant threat, so it’s critical to be well-prepared for the battle. Below are strategies to defeat the Spektos in Metaphor: ReFantazio and ultimately confront Zorba, the Necromancer.
Strategies for Defeating the Spektos in Metaphor ReFantazio
You face the Spektos after successfully navigating past several stages, including rescuing hostages and reaching the Reception Chamber where the crystal is located.
As you enter the chamber housing the crystal, the game will prompt you to indicate if you’re prepared, often signaling that a major confrontation is about to happen. In this instance, you’re required to defeat the Spektos, who are the guardians of the crystals. The battle kicks off with an overwhelming five Spektos to contend with.
The initial moments of this battle are crucial, as engaging with five Spektos concurrently can lead to severe damage on each opponent’s turn if you’re unable to reduce their numbers quickly.
Thus, prior to entering the battle, consider adjusting your archetypes for optimal performance.
Spektos Battle Tips – Weaknesses and Optimal Archetype
The Spektos are particularly vulnerable to Light-based attacks, so it’s advisable to utilize the Brawler archetype you unlocked by saving the hostages and forming a connection with Catherina. This class grants access to the Energy Ray Synthesis, a powerful one-shot ability. It’s also beneficial to purify your knuckles at the church (Grand Tran) so that your attacks can deal intrinsic light damage.
Bringing two Brawlers into the fight allows you to repeatedly use the Energy Ray Synthesis, potentially eliminating the Spektos in one strike. Speed is essential, as these enemies can replicate themselves. A Spektos has the ability to summon another, which can quickly alter the momentum of the battle. However, typically, they do not summon more allies if there are still three or more in play.
When the encounter initiates, immediately cast Energy Ray Synthesis to take out one of the Spektos. You can target specific enemies to focus your damage effectively, especially if your Synthesis combos are not yet ready.
Defensive strategies like using the guard ability or Hulkenberg’s taunt (should she still be in the Knight archetype) are key during this battle.
Be cautious, as the Spektos can reflect physical damage with their attacks. They also possess a dangerous technique called Last Resort, which sacrifices a Spektos to inflict substantial damage—approximately 100 points—to every party member. Timing this attack can be unpredictable, so maintain your team’s HP above fifty percent at all times.
Enhancing your Endurance attribute can reduce damage from these heavy-hitting attacks, making it a valuable trait to focus on for protection in battle when Strength or Magic may be lacking.
Another threat to monitor is the Curse Chant, which applies a Hex effect to all your characters. This can be particularly troublesome as it hinders any Synthesis attack if one of your members is hexed. Although the Curse Chant often misses, it still poses a risk of debuffing at least one party member.
In addition to these risks, the Spektos will also attack using Cyc and Gacyc skills, dealing wind-related damage. Once you’ve triumphed over the Spektos, you can proceed with your pursuit of the Necromancer.
