Stray Kids Achieves Gold In RIAA With 4 Different Songs In US + Becomes 2nd K-pop Artist To Accomplish Feat

Stray Kids has once again made history with the release of one of their iconic music tracks. This milestone has caught the attention of the K-pop community, prompting congratulatory messages from STAYs to the fourth-generation leaders.

On August 19, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) officially certified Stray Kids’ 2021 hit song “Thunderous”as gold. This recognition was earned after the song surpassed 500,000 units in sales in the United States.

“Thunderous”was originally released on August 23, 2021, as the title track from Stray Kids’ second studio album “NOEASY.”It has now joined the ranks of previous certified gold songs, such as “God’s Menu,””MANIAC,”and “Back Door,”becoming the group’s fourth song to achieve this certification from RIAA.

The single marks the sixth time Stray Kids has received a gold certification, adding to their previous RIAA achievements with “★★★★★ (5-STAR)”and “ROCK-STAR”in 2023.

Having accomplished this feat with four distinct songs, Stray Kids has officially become the second K-pop artist in RIAA history to receive gold certifications, following in the footsteps of BTS.

Additionally, it was reported that Stray Kids’ ninth mini album “ATE”debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums chart. Luminate, a data platform, revealed that the album accumulated 232,000 equivalent album units during the week ending on July 25.

The breakdown revealed that “ATE”had amassed a total of 218,000 traditional album sales, 13,000 streaming equivalent album units, 19.05 audio streams, and 1,000 track equivalent album units.

This accomplishment also solidified Stray Kids as the first group to have five consecutive releases debut at the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart. The fourth-generation group also joined rapper DMX as the only artists to achieve this feat, which DMX originally achieved from 1998 to 2003.
