Streamers’ Response to Riot’s Tracker App Making Streamer Mode Obsolete

According to Valorant streamers, they are facing harassment from stream snipers due to the existence of a tracker app that reveals their locations even while in streamer mode.

In order to prevent stream sniping in Valorant, Riot Games has implemented a streamer mode. This feature allows players to enter lobbies without displaying their real names. Instead, the username is replaced with “player”until the player chooses a character. From that point on, the player’s name will simply be the Agent they are using. This added measure provides streamers with an additional level of protection against being targeted by snipers.

Despite the implementation of a defense system, players are reportedly utilizing a tracker app to bypass it. The problem has caught the attention of streamers, who are vocalizing their concerns by stating that their games are still being impacted even when streamer mode is activated.

Streamer L21saac exposed a player who was purportedly using a script to bypass streamer mode and see other players’ names. A video posted on Twitter/X shows the teammate calling L21saac by his name, even though it was supposed to be hidden.

“According to him, Riot’s decision to allow Valorant has made the game unplayable for streamers. A widely abused tracker app is currently available that enables players to bypass streamer mode and view the associated Twitch account.”

The issue of stream snipers has become a major problem for AverageJonas, a well-known creator for Team Liquid. In fact, the situation has become so severe that he is contemplating making a significant change to his setup.

“AverageJonas expressed interest in using a double PC setup to take advantage of the ability to set up dynamic delay, ensuring it is only active during matches.”

The mentioned app is readily accessible to the general public, making it available for anyone to utilize. Although its name will not be disclosed, the app can easily be located and has gained considerable popularity.

It is important to understand that it differs from apps such as Valorant Tracker, which only display the statistics of your team members but not their actual usernames.

Despite the issues with streamer mode, there is currently no known solution other than implementing a delay for affected streamers while they are streaming.
