Do you anticipate Akuma’s comeback in Street Fighter 6? Here is all the information we currently have.
Street Fighter 6: When is Akuma’s Release Date?
As the EVO Japan event concluded, Capcom released a new trailer for Akuma in Street Fighter 6. The video’s description confirmed that Akuma will be added to Street Fighter 6 as downloadable content on May 22, 2024.
Despite lacking explicit confirmation, it is highly probable that players will have the option to purchase or unlock Akuma’s Outfit 2 through World Tour Mode, as has been the case for all other characters’ alternate outfits thus far.
The addition of Akuma signals the conclusion of the initial batch of DLC fighters, which features the reappearance of Ed and Rashid, as well as the introduction of newcomer A.K.I. This release also maintains Akuma’s streak of being included in every Street Fighter installment since his debut in Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo. It remains uncertain how many more DLC characters will be included in the future, or who will be the next to join the roster.
Despite a less successful launch compared to the critically acclaimed Street Fighter 6, Street Fighter 5 managed to surpass expectations with a total of 30 DLC fighters added over its seven-year existence. In fact, the starting roster of Street Fighter 5 only had two fewer fighters than Street Fighter 6 (16 instead of 18, respectively). Therefore, it is highly likely that Street Fighter 6 will continue to follow in the footsteps of its predecessor and receive even more DLC fighters in the future.
The upcoming DLC for Street Fighter 6 will feature new character costumes. While the DLC characters do not currently have Outfit 3s, they will be added in the future. However, the starting roster’s Outfit 3s are already available.
