Subtle change in Diablo 4’s Season 4 patch makes endgame gambling “worth it”

The latest patch for Diablo 4, Season 4, has brought about significant changes to the game’s loot mechanics. While many players may have missed it, there has been a subtle alteration to the Obol gambling system.

After much anticipation, Blizzard has unveiled the confirmed modifications that will be implemented in the upcoming Diablo 4 Season 4: Loot Reborn, as outlined in the recent patch notes for the game. The journey towards this point was a lengthy one, with the development team taking the unprecedented step of launching a Public Test Realm (PTR) for players to provide their input on the revamped itemization process.

Thankfully, it appears that the Diablo 4 development team has kept the extremely potent builds from the PTR untouched. Additionally, there have been numerous adjustments made to the amount of control players have in upgrading and modifying their gear.

Despite the significant changes introduced in the Diablo 4 Season 4 patch, the most impactful adjustment may be the minor update to the Curiosities Vendor’s inventory. This sentiment is not limited to just our opinion.

Diablo 4 Season 4 Patch Changes: Purveyor of Curiosities

During the recent Campfire Chat discussing the Season 4 changes, it was mentioned that a specific change involved items obtained by gambling with Obols at the Curiosities Vendor. This change ensures that these items follow the rules for item drops, meaning their power will scale with the player’s level and they have a chance to be equipped with the new Greater Affixes.

This recent modification allows players at level 100 to use Obols to wager on items that will reach the maximum item level of 925. This means that players can gather Obols and take their chances on obtaining Legendary gear with the possibility of enhanced Affixes.

This method simplifies the search for desirable gear by allowing it to be done in a single, uncomplicated transaction, rather than attempting more difficult tasks such as completing multiple Helltides or Nightmare Dungeons.

Players on the Diablo 4 Subreddit have praised the recent change as “a fantastic improvement to the quality of life.”This minor alteration has revitalized a previously overlooked feature, with many now claiming that “gambling holds great value in the endgame.”
