Suggested Change to Overwatch 2’s Flawed Clash Game Mode Sparks Player Demand

The developers of Overwatch 2 released the new game mode, Clash, in Season 12. However, players have one major issue with it that should be an easy fix for the developers.

Clash features a total of five objectives, with two teams vying for control of these zones in order to earn points. Every match commences with the first objective being activated at the center, and once one team seizes this point, another objective will activate closer to the opposing team’s spawn location.

The team that earns five points first will be declared the winner.

Despite players having discovered a single flaw in the game mode thus far, they have noticed that teams are awarded points for capturing the area nearest to their spawn. As a result, certain matches may conclude with one team controlling the area in front of their opponent’s base, yet ultimately losing the game due to the scoring system.

According to a player on Reddit, there is nothing more frustrating than losing a match without controlling a single capture point on your side of the map in Overwatch.

Overwatch 2 added a lot of content in Season 12.

“According to AVRL, the spawn point is intentionally designed to be easily retaken, making it a given that a losing team should be able to do so.”

“The game loses its excitement when a team reaches 4 points, and the other team attempts a comeback but is unable to fully capture the last point due to the map’s design. The 4-point team then takes back control, as intended by the design of the map, to secure the win.”

“It seems like the mode has some flaws, but they can still be fixed,”another Reddit user added.

Despite being a frustrating issue, this flaw should not be difficult for Blizzard to resolve. As highlighted by AVRL and Overwatch players on social media, the developer simply needs to modify the points awarded to teams for capturing the area closest to their spawn.

A change in the points awarded for capturing this area to 0.5 instead of one was proposed by some players. The Overwatch caster also recommended that capturing the area closest to your spawn when at four points should not automatically result in earning a match-winning point.

Both solutions would make an excellent addition to the Clash game mode, but there is currently no confirmation from the developers on whether any modifications are being planned.
