Suicide Squad Isekai episode 6 review: Wit Studio nails it all in a fairly plot-heavy, action packed installment

As viewers prepared for episode 6 of Suicide Squad Isekai, it was expected that the focus would be on action following the team’s previous encounter with Enchantress and The Thinker. Similarly, there wasn’t much anticipation for significant plot development, as previous episodes had not given much attention to this aspect.

Surprisingly, the sixth episode of Suicide Squad Isekai is highly focused on the plot and could be considered one of the most plot-driven episodes of the series. This is accomplished by delving into various character backgrounds and origin stories. This technique proves to be effective and, arguably for the first time all season, the series is firing on all cylinders at the same time.

Suicide Squad Isekai: Episode 6 Review – Wit Studio Strikes Again

In simpler terms, Suicide Squad Isekai episode 6 is the best episode of the series so far, and it is worth discussing whether it can be considered perfect or not. Although there may be a few minor criticisms, overall the episode is as close to perfection as the series can achieve.

Similarly, addressing these minor criticisms is the most effective approach, with the initial one involving excessive reliance on statistics to reach a satisfactory level of character and plot development. Although it is executed competently enough to leave audiences content in the moment, it may resurface as one continues to reflect on the release.

Despite being the sixth episode of Suicide Squad Isekai, it falls short in terms of worldbuilding and revealing lore in its plot. As the second half of the series unfolds, fans are still left in the dark about the war and its purpose. While this lack of information may be forgivable if the series were to have a second season, it does not appear to be the direction the show is heading in at this time.

Despite this, the installment is still near perfection in every other aspect. Wit Studio’s impeccable animation continues to be consistently stunning and fluid, showcasing unique creative choices throughout. These choices are most notable through Enchantress’ powers and the magical attacks of the large group of Elves under The Thinker’s command.

The Thinker’s appearance in episode 6 of Suicide Squad Isekai has brought unexpected plot twists and character development for fans. Through a psychic attack on Deadshot, Clayface, and Peacemaker, viewers gain insight into each character. In Deadshot’s mind, he sees his daughter pointing a gun at him and questioning his actions, while Clayface envisions himself being ridiculed by a laughing crowd during a performance.

Despite being less detailed, Peacemaker’s scene depicts him walking through an unfamiliar battlefield where the corpses of fallen soldiers reach out and cry out to him. While it may not explore the characters’ psychological depths and backgrounds objectively, it is the most in-depth look we’ve had at the trio thus far.

In episode 6 of Suicide Squad Isekai, there is a significant focus on Princess Fione’s backstory, which helps to make up for previous shortcomings. During a conversation with a commoner friend, Fione casually mentions the soldiers’ food reserves, leading to the friend’s death as he tries to sneak into a camp. Fione’s feelings of guilt are already evident, but her mother’s words further intensify them and give insight into Fione’s motivations in the series.

Fione’s backstory is the highlight of the series, particularly when it comes to the jailbreak planned by her and Cecil. Her motivations go beyond fulfilling her royal duty – she is driven by a deep desire to put an end to the war that took the life of her friend and many others. This aspect of her character adds depth and relatability, especially for viewers who have also rebelled against their parents in the past.

Despite not being the focus of development in Suicide Squad Isekai episode 6, Harley Quinn is not left out of the character development. Her reaction to Beanstalk’s death and the supposed deaths of her fellow Suicide Squad members showcases a more compassionate side of her personality, even towards people she has only recently met.

Suicide Squad Isekai: Episode 6 – In Summation

Despite not being discussed above, there is still much praise to be given to what the episode accomplishes. Wit has consistently delivered exceptional animation throughout the entire season, making it clear that the studio is capable of producing top-tier animation every week. From a critical perspective, what becomes more intriguing is the development of the series’ plot and characters.

Despite its late arrival, the sixth episode of Suicide Squad Isekai serves as a promising indication of what’s to come, as it successfully incorporates strong storytelling and character growth. The real test will be if this momentum can be sustained for the remaining four episodes of the first season.
