Despite her marriage announcement with Super Junior Ryeowook, former Tahiti member Ari personally expressed her regret and apologized to fans. However, there seems to be a resistance towards their marriage from some people.
In March, Super Junior’s Ryeowook announced that he will be tying the knot with his long-time partner, Ari, whom he has been dating since 2020. In an emotional letter addressed to their fans, the idol shared the happy news with ELFs.
“As you all know, I have a friend that I am dating. During the time we have been together, the desire to form a family with her naturally developed.
It was not a sudden decision, but I had thought about it and discussed it with the members as well as the company for a long time. In the end, we decided to get married at the end of May, this spring.”
Ryeowook also conveyed his thanks to the devoted ELFs (Super Junior fandom) for their genuine well-wishes for the couple. He reassured fans that he would remain dedicated to his solo work and Super Junior activities even after tying the knot.
Ari Uses Marriage Announcement as Apology to Fans
Upon seeing his announcement, Ari took to her personal account earlier this May to also share the news with their fans. She expressed her apologies to anyone who may have been affected by the announcement.
Although most ELFs and Black Pearls (Tahiti fandom) were pleased with the announcement, there were some Korean fans who opposed Ryeowook and Ari’s relationship due to allegations of Ari’s involvement in the infamous cult, Shincheonji.
Despite later refuting her involvement in a controversy with a theater actor, she remains negatively perceived by male idol’s supporters due to this incident.
Some ELFs also felt betrayed when Ryeowook decided to settle down with Ari without giving them a chance to get to know her first.
Therefore, Ari offered a genuine apology to them.
“It’s been a long time since I said hello. I also have some warm news to share at the end of May this spring. I am now planning to become a family with the person I have been with for a long time.
We would like to express our gratitude to everyone who has supported, understood, and encouraged us so far, and on the other hand, we are sorry to those who have been hurt by our decision.
So from now on, I will act with even more responsibility, protect my family with caution so that you do not have any concerns, and live well while being considerate of you.”
In September 2020, Ryeowook confirmed his romantic relationship with Ari. They had initially met as seniors and juniors, but their relationship eventually blossomed into a romantic one.
After dating for four years, they made the decision to spend the rest of their lives together. This will make him the second member of Super Junior to get married, following Sungmin’s marriage.
