As fans may recall, after Satoru Gojo reached the afterlife in Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 236, Nanami Kento shared insights from Mei Mei regarding the significance of selecting a path. Nanami expressed uncertainty about his destination if he were to leave the country. Mei Mei advised him that if he desired a fresh start, he should go North; alternatively, if he longed to return to his previous self, he should venture South.

Interestingly, Nanami’s ultimate destination was Kuantan, Malaysia. He confidently indicated that he choose the South, attributing it to his tendency to reflect on the past. Upon the chapter’s release, readers realized that Nanami was not merely discussing a voyage but also contemplating his spiritual journey in the afterlife.

As indicated by the latest chapter spoilers, after Ryomen Sukuna’s death, he too was faced with two paths. This suggests that, akin to him, Nanami and other deceased characters may have also encountered the choice to journey North or South. Consequently, with Nanami in his youthful form in the afterlife, it is presumed that he chose to reconnect with his past self after being offered a new beginning versus returning to his original state.

This sentiment appears to extend to Satoru Gojo, Suguru Geto, Masamichi Yaga, and others, all depicted in their younger embodiments in the afterlife. This effectively implies that when faced with the choices – North and South, Gojo decisively selected the South.

In Ryomen Sukuna’s case, when he was presented with the journey options, he seemingly opted for the North. When questioned by Mahito, Sukuna expressed his desire to traverse a different path in the future after suffering defeat against the Jujutsu Sorcerers.

Consequently, from his two paths – Yorozu and Uraume, Sukuna selected Uraume (implying he previously chose Yorozu). Mahito suggested that Sukuna was becoming soft, and Sukuna acknowledged this, reflecting on his defeat and his willingness to consider a new direction than what he had pursued before. This decision indicates that Sukuna aims for a fresh start by heading North.
