On Saturday, June 29, 2024, Key, a Japanese visual novel studio, made an announcement regarding the production of an anime adaptation of their visual novel, Summer Pockets. The release of the anime, which is based on the same-named visual novel, is scheduled for 2025.
The official team has released a teaser promotional video and shared information about the cast and staff. Additionally, they have also unveiled a teaser visual for the upcoming anime based on the visual novel.
In June 2018, Visual Arts/Key company first debuted a visual for the Summer Pockets novel on PC in Japan. The game was later made available on the Nintendo Switch in 2019. A revamped edition, titled Summer Pockets REFLECTION BLUE, was subsequently released for PC, mobile, Switch, and PS4, serving as an enhanced version of the original game.
Summer Pockets Anime’s Teaser PV Confirms 2025 Premiere
On Saturday, June 29, 2024, Visual Arts/Key, the studio known for creating visual novels, revealed that a Summer Pockets anime adaptation, based on their popular visual novel game, will be released in 2025. A promotional video and visual were shared through a new website and X account.
The PV showcases a picturesque ocean view, complete with a soaring seagull, capturing the essence of Summer. The scene then shifts to a mystical butterfly dissolving into nothingness. Finally, the video depicts a girl with flowing hair walking along the shore.
Undoubtedly, the PV has sparked increased interest and raised many questions among audiences, creating hype for the release of the Summer Pockets anime. Fans should take note that the staff had previously announced in December 2021 that production on the anime was underway.
The anime’s official site and X handle have released a teaser trailer and a visual showcasing the same woman on the shore. The vibrant visual captures the essence of Summer, with a blue sky, an island, and the shore.
Summer Pockets: Cast, Staff, and Plot of the Anime Adaptation
The lineup of actors and production team members for the Summer Pockets anime has been announced. Shoya Chiba will be playing the role of Hairi Takahara, the main character of this Summer-themed anime, while Natsumi Takamori will be lending her voice to the character of Ao Sorakado.
Konomi Kohara has taken on the role of Shiroha Naruse, with Emiri Iwai providing the voice for Tsumugi Wenders. Nene Hieda has also joined the voice cast as Kamome Kushime. Tomomi Mineuchi previously voiced the character in the visual novel, but retired from voice acting in December 2022.
Tomoki Kobayashi, who is well-known for his role in creating Akame ga Kill!, is the director for this project at Studio Feel, with Keiichiro Ochi listed as the script supervisor.
The composers enlisted for the project include Shinji Orito, Jun Maeda, Tomohiro Takeshita, Donmaru, Ryo Mizutsuki, and Shuhei Ohashi. Additionally, Mai Otsuka from Non-Non Biyori has joined the team as the character designer.
Adapted from the original visual novel, the anime adaptation also features Hairi Takahara, a high school student who visits Torishirojima island during her Summer break to organize her late grandmother’s possessions. During her time on this enchanting island, she encounters several individuals who introduce her to a new perspective on life.
