Shortly thereafter, the K-pop girl group NewJeans received considerable backing from both fans and industry professionals.
For example, Dawon of WJSN shared a montage of their album covers with the poignant caption “forever.” This gesture has led fans to believe that Dawon fully supports NewJeans amid the ongoing disputes involving HYBE and Min Hee Jin, the former CEO of the subsidiary Ador. Additionally, baseball player Kim Do Young subtly showcased a photo of a T-shirt featuring the girl group’s adorable rabbit mascot.
Numerous legal experts have also rallied behind Min Hee Jin, criticizing HYBE’s handling of the situation as unprofessional. Lawyer Lee Hyun Gon pointed out that the company appears to be intentionally dragging out the legal disputes with the former Ador CEO.
“HYBE’s objective seems to be prolonging disputes rather than resolving them. Each time one issue is settled, another one emerges. They are leveraging these conflicts as an excuse to operate outside legal boundaries,” the lawyer stated.
Moreover, over 16,000 fans of NewJeans have voiced their support for the group, urging HYBE to provide a clear explanation to both the artists and their audience.
The decision by the five members to expose their circumstances regarding HYBE is believed to be linked to Min Hee Jin’s removal from Ador, where she was succeeded by Kim Ju Young, a current board member of HYBE. While Ador contends that Min Hee Jin remains a creative director and continues to contribute to the production process, she has firmly opposed this claim, labeling it a “unilateral dismissal.”
Currently, Min Hee Jin has filed for a court order seeking reinstatement as CEO of Ador. She is requesting that the company convene an extraordinary shareholders’ meeting to vote on her return. If the court approves her request, Hee Jin could potentially be re-elected to the board and reinstated as CEO.
