Sword of the Demon Hunter: Release Date and New Visual Revealed

On Thursday, May 9, 2024, the official website and X (previously known as Twitter) account for the Sword of the Demon Hunter anime revealed that the series would debut on June 27, 2024 with a special one-hour episode. Additionally, the staff announced the names of additional cast members and shared a new key visual.

Futabasha has published a total of 14 volumes in the light novel series, which has been serialized from 2019 to 2023.

Sword of the Demon Hunter: Release Date Announced

As stated previously, the official team behind the Sword of the Demon Hunter anime revealed on Thursday that the historical fantasy series will make its debut on Tokyo MX, MBS, and BS-Fuji TV on June 27, 2024, with a one-hour premiere episode. The specific airing time and episode count for the anime have not yet been announced.

The official team also released a new key visual for the anime alongside this announcement, showcasing the main character, Jinta, wielding a sword. The illustration also includes his sister, Suzune, as well as the Assimilation Demon, the Clairvoyant Demon, and Shirayuki.

In addition to announcing the release date and showcasing the new visual, the production team for the Sword of the Demon Hunter anime also introduced two new cast members. One of them is Hiroshi Shirokuma, a well-known voice actor who will be playing the role of Doga no Oni, also known as the Assimilation Demon.

The official website for the anime characterizes them as a strong demon with two horns. Alongside Hiroshi-san is Yui Kondo, portraying the character of Tomi no Kijo, also known as the Clairvoyant Demon. She possesses the ability to peer into the future and distant places.

In addition to the previously announced cast members, Taku Yashiro as Jinta, Saori Hayami as Shirayuki, and Reina Ueda as Suzune, Yui-san and Hiroshi-san will also be joining the cast. It is expected that more members will be announced at a later time.

Heading the staff is Kazuya Aiura, who is helming the production of the Sword of the Demon Hunter anime at the Yokohama Animation Lab. Taro Ikegami is responsible for character design, while Deko Akao serves as the script supervisor. MONACA’s Keiichi Hirokawa, Ryuichi Takada, and Kuniyuki Takahashi are all lending their musical talents as composers.

The plot of the anime

Sword of the Demon Hunter is an anime adaptation of Moto’o Nakanishi’s light novel series. The story takes place during the Edo period and follows Jinta and his sister, Suzune, as they flee from their home and seek shelter in a remote mountain village.

As he matures, Jinta becomes a skilled swordsman and makes a vow to safeguard the village’s priestess, Shirayuki. Yet, during a confrontation with a demon in the forest, he discovers a dark secret about his identity. Thus, the anime portrays a thrilling fantasy journey, as Jinta embarks on a quest to vanquish demons and defend his beloved ones.
