Taco Bell Employee Sparks Debate After Showing How Eggs Are Cooked

A Taco Bell employee shared the process behind preparing the chain’s popular eggs, which sparked a heated debate.

In a viral TikTok video with over 4 million views, a Taco Bell employee shared a video that viewers were not prepared for.

The worker then displayed a plastic bag containing egg mixture to the viewers and proceeded to place it in boiling water. Once cooked, he transferred the eggs to a container that was coated with a nonstick “bakery release spray.”

Upon the video’s release, viewers were instantly repulsed by the cooking methods, commenting, “I can only see microplastics.”

“Another person agreed, stating that they were headed to Taco Bell in order to fulfill their daily recommended amount of microplastics.”

Despite this, there were plenty of individuals who were not bothered at all by the cooking methods, stating: “They just scramble the eggs and boil them… I don’t see any issue with that.”

This is not the initial instance of a fast food establishment facing criticism for their cooking techniques. In 2021, McDonald’s faced backlash for its preparation of the controversial McRib. A TikTok video also exposed an employee defrosting a frozen McRib in an unsanitary oven before coating it in barbecue sauce.

Despite this, Taco Bell is also receiving positive attention. In fact, just last month, they made the exciting announcement that they would be reintroducing their most beloved menu item, which has been removed from their menu a total of ten times.
