Taco Bell Revives Popular Double Decker Taco After Viral Tweet Support

Taco Bell has responded to customer feedback after one enthusiastic fan called them “cowards” for discontinuing the beloved Double Decker Taco. In a surprising move, the popular menu item is making a comeback for a limited time.

Beginning Thursday, October 10, Taco Bell will reintroduce the Double Decker Taco. This fan favorite was removed from the menu in 2019, with its last appearance being in 2023.

The Double Decker consists of a crispy taco filled with ground beef, shredded cheese, and lettuce, all wrapped in a soft flour tortilla slathered with refried beans.

Customers can enhance their taco experience by upgrading to a supreme version, which includes additional toppings such as sour cream, diced tomatoes, and more.

The Double Decker Taco at Taco Bell is back for a limited period only.

Although Taco Bell recently revived the Double Decker, they nearly brought it back in 2022. In a previous poll conducted by the Tex-Mex chain, patrons were invited to vote for the menu item they wished to see return. The Double Decker came in a close second, falling just short of the Enchirito.

Customer insistence about the return of the Double Decker never wavered. On August 15, 2024, one fan even called out Taco Bell on Twitter, labeling them as “cowards” for its removal.

“Bring back the Double Decker Taco, u cowards,” the user tweeted. To this, Taco Bell cheekily replied, “Send the double text, get the Crunchwrap.”

Many other patrons have voiced similar sentiments over the years, frequently mentioning their longing for the Double Decker taco.

“They got rid of the Double Decker Taco, what?!” a customer tweeted back in 2019. “A very heartbreaking thing to find out,” another user added.

Luckily for fans, Taco Bell plans to serve the Double Decker Taco until the end of October 2024. Additionally, they have reduced the prices for both the regular and supreme options. Previously priced at $2.99 and $3.69, the Double Decker Taco will now be available for just $2 and $2.69 respectively.

Besides the Double Decker revival, Taco Bell also reintroduced the massive Cheez-It in September 2024, alongside variations like the Cheez-It Tostada and Cheez-It Crunchwrap Supreme.
