Taco Bell’s Upcoming ‘Nostalgia’ Menu Featuring Fan-Favorites from Each Decade

Taco Bell is bringing back five iconic menu items in their upcoming drop, evoking feelings of nostalgia.

Over the years, Taco Bell has introduced numerous new items to their menus, only to later remove them from rotation. This was the case with their nacho cheese dips, which were released in 2023 and sparked viral challenges on TikTok as fans tried to keep them on the menu.

Despite not being available all year, Taco Bell does occasionally reintroduce fan-favorite items, such as the nacho cheese fries. These fries were so well-loved that they received a whopping 53 million orders within the first two months of their release in 2018.

Taco Bell is currently releasing a throwback collection featuring five of their most beloved menu items from the last six decades. Without any delay, these returning favorites include:

During the 1960s, the Tostada was introduced, consisting of a crunchy corn tostada shell filled with flavorful refried beans, zesty red sauce, crunchy lettuce, and shredded cheese.

During the 1970s, the Green Burrito was introduced, featuring a filling of refried beans, crispy onions, and shredded cheddar cheese, along with a special green sauce made from a blend of green chiles, tomatillos, and jalapeños.

The new menu features five returning fan favorites.

During the 1980s, the Meximelt was created using a combination of pico de gallo and a mixture of three types of cheese – mozzarella, cheddar, and Monterey jack. This delicious blend was then melted and layered on top of seasoned beef in a tortilla casing.

In the 1990s, Taco Bell introduced the Beef Gordita Supreme, which consisted of seasoned beef, a three-cheese blend (mozzarella, cheddar, and Monterey jack), reduced-fat sour cream, lettuce, and diced tomatoes wrapped in a flatbread.

During the 2000s, a popular treat was the Caramel Apple Empanada, which consisted of a flaky pastry filled with apples coated in a delicious caramel sauce.

Taco Bell’s chief marketing officer, Taylor Montgomery, shared that their extensive history has resulted in a collection of highly desired products that have captured the hearts of our fans. We are constantly seeking ways to bring back these beloved items that provide both comfort and value to our customers.

“We are excited to bring together two sets of fans: those who have nostalgic memories of these menu offerings and those who have yet to try the delicious Caramel Apple Empanada or experience the satisfaction of their first bite of a Meximelt from our menu.”

The new menu is currently only being offered for a limited time at three exclusive locations.

  • 2222 Barranca Pkwy, Irvine, CA 92606
  • 303 W Imperial Hwy, Brea, CA 92821
  • 31 E Orangethorpe Ave, Fullerton, CA 92832

Nonetheless, Taco Bell announced that they are currently considering making this new menu accessible nationwide by the end of 2024.
