Take-Two CEO Discusses GTA 6 Pricing Concerns Amid Rumors of Price Increase

According to current plans, GTA 6 will be the most highly anticipated release of 2025, marking the return of the immensely popular open-world series. In anticipation of its launch, there have been talks of a potential price increase, prompting the CEO of Take-Two to address the speculations.

In 2023, speculation about GTA 6 being priced at a steep $150 upon release caused a stir on the internet. However, Take-Two had not yet commented on the game’s cost… until recently.

During Take-Two’s latest earnings call, CEO Strauss Zelnick was questioned about the company’s entire portfolio and the highly anticipated GTA 6. He discussed the potential pricing for their upcoming games.

According to GameSpot’s report, Zelnick stated, “We strive to consistently provide great value at all times, with the constant addition of new content.”

“We are dedicated to providing value that exceeds our charges. This is our guiding principle whenever we set a price. Our aim is to ensure that the consumer receives a positive experience that far surpasses the cost. This is our ultimate goal.”

Despite not stating it explicitly, it is evident that Zelnick is of the opinion that if they were to price GTA 6 above the standard retail price in the future, it would still offer a superior experience compared to its cost. Naturally, it will ultimately be up to the overall player community to determine this upon the game’s launch.

Take-Two was among the first game publishers to raise the prices of new-generation games, reaching $70 in 2023. Other companies, including Nintendo, Sony, and Ubisoft, soon followed suit.

In 2023, Zelnick stated that the company had not faced any resistance from customers due to the price increase and that they are standing by their pricing strategy.

As we eagerly anticipate the release of GTA 6, fans are curious to see whether Take-Two will raise game prices once again. Only time will tell.
