Strauss Zelnick, the CEO of Take-Two Interactive, has addressed the anticipated release window for GTA 6, which is currently set for Fall 2025. In a recent discussion, he clarified why the company has opted not to finalize a specific release date at this stage.
The excitement surrounding GTA 6 intensified following its official announcement in December 2023, marked by the debut of its first trailer. This teaser concluded with the significant announcement of a release year—2025. However, since then, there has been a noticeable lack of information from the studio.
Despite narrowing the release timeframe to Fall 2025, details have remained sparse, leading to growing curiosity and speculation among fans eager for updates.
The Timing of GTA 6 Information Release
In an interview with Variety prior to the upcoming quarterly earnings call on February 6, Zelnick reaffirmed the Fall 2025 timeframe, addressing concerns about potential delays with a confident tone. He stated, “We’ve announced a pretty narrow window. So I think our view is that right now, that’s fine. And then when it’s appropriate, of course, Rockstar is going to have more to say.”
In additional comments made to Vulture Beat, Zelnick acknowledged the possibility of a release delay, comparable to previous title launches such as GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2. He remarked, “It’s always the possibilities in our business… After all, it is February and we’ve outlined the release schedule through calendar year end.”
Further emphasizing the company’s optimistic outlook, he expressed that Take-Two “feels really good” about the projected Fall 2025 release in a discussion with IGN.
Zelnick candidly addressed the inherent risks in the gaming industry, stating, “Look, there’s always a risk of slippage… We know that Rockstar seeks perfection. I never claim success before it occurs. I’m fond of saying arrogance is the enemy of continued success.” His remarks paint a picture of a diligent team, acutely aware of the competitive landscape and committed to delivering a polished final product.“Our whole organization is super excited, ” he concluded.
