Despite the passage of time, Naruto remains a timeless series in the world of anime and manga. Masashi Kishimoto’s masterpiece continues to be widely recognized and has a dedicated following around the globe. The story of the yellow-haired ninja encompasses powerful messages of determination, camaraderie, redemption, affection, selflessness, diligence, and beyond.
Despite being shunned by his village because of the Demon Fox within him, the protagonist, Naruto Uzumaki, began as an ordinary person. However, as the series goes on, he transforms into the crucial figure on whom the fate of the Shinobi world depends.
Despite the many admirable aspects of Naruto, there is one particular element that appears to detract from its overall charm.
The Negative Impact of Naruto’s Talk No Jutsu on the Series
Explaining Talk No Jutsu
One must first grasp the concept of Talk No Jutsu before proceeding. While it may not be a traditional Jutsu, it is a term used to describe Naruto’s ability to inspire and persuade others. This phrase is often used to highlight the shinobi’s knack for transforming his enemies’ perspectives.
His capacity to connect with others comes from a genuine heroic attribute: Empathy, which is a skill that is acquired, not inherited. Despite his difficult upbringing and the crucial guidance of Iruka Umino, he is able to avoid a path of negativity and animosity. These early experiences shape him into the individual he ultimately becomes, and ultimately, the Hero.
In terms of his philosophy, his tendency to address issues and strive for lasting solutions through discussions and cooperation may appear uncommon within the context of the narrative.
This further emphasizes the Confucian principles present throughout the series. The fundamental values of Confucianism are kindness and compassion, which involve recognizing others as reflections of oneself and vice versa.
Dampening the Magic: Negative Aspects of the Show
Despite its apparent invincibility during the show, Talk No Jutsu is never utilized by Naruto to address serious problems. The story explores complex themes such as loneliness, vengeance, and pain, yet the resolutions always seem to revolve around the power of friendship and perseverance.
The charm of the series has been greatly enhanced by its antagonists, namely Nagato and Tobi/Obito. Both represent significant themes: Nagato, coming from a nation torn apart by war, sought peace but went about it in a misguided manner, while Tobi/Obito, having experienced the loss of his loved one, aimed to end the destructive Cycle of Hatred.
In every instance, Naruto addresses the situation by appealing to each individual’s emotions. After locating Nagato and delivering a speech about peace with little substance, he successfully convinces Nagato to reverse the harm he had caused.
Before his mask reveal and gaining the Six Paths power, Obito was a cunning and formidable adversary. He was able to create chaos and draw the Five Great Nations into battle almost single-handedly. However, he eventually met his downfall and changed sides when the protagonist employed Talk No Jutsu.
In addition, he employed Talk No Jutsu on Sasuke Uchiha, who was struggling with the trauma of his brother killing their clan. Despite Sasuke’s desire for vengeance against the Leaf Village for their actions, Naruto consistently emphasized the importance of friendship and bonds. He never broached the sensitive subjects of the massacre or the wrongdoing of the village elders.
Concluding Remarks
Despite there being numerous instances where the central issue was completely avoided and the focus was on bonds, friendship, and emotion, the series still maintains its charm. Upon closer examination, it becomes apparent that there are no clear villains, as each character’s actions were driven by justifiable reasons, albeit executed in an incorrect manner.
Despite their differing motivations, Nagato’s desire for peace, Sasuke’s resentment towards his brother and clan’s mistreatment, and Madara and Obito’s search for an ideal world were all strong driving forces. However, the show’s appeal did diminish when these characters resorted to emotional appeals and appealing to one’s inner self.
