T-ARA Bullying Controversy Resurfaces: Jiyeon Addresses Slapping Hwayoung Incident

Recent Revelations Revive T-ARA Bullying Controversy

On November 9, 2023, a significant chapter in T-ARA’s history was reopened when CEO Kim Kwang-soo discussed the group’s past internal disputes on MBN’s “Let’s Go Go Season 3.”He recalled a distressing moment when he urged former members Hwayoung and her twin sister Hyoyoung to terminate their contracts, stating, “Leave. I’ll release you without any conditions. Go pursue your careers.” He emphasized that the remaining T-ARA members were without fault, which allowed them to continue with their activities uninterrupted. Hwayoung reacted strongly to these remarks, saying, “I don’t understand why they’re making biased and distorted comments about an incident from 12 years ago,”while reiterating her accusations of both verbal and physical abuse, effectively reigniting public curiosity about the truth behind the bullying allegations.

Demands for Jiyeon to Address Past Allegations

In light of these comments, fans have begun to pressure Jiyeon to clarify rumors surrounding an incident where she allegedly slapped Hwayoung. This unrest was sparked by a comment from an individual identified as “A,” who remarked on Hwayoung’s social media post, “Our Hwayoung, who even got slapped by a certain member.” This claim escalates previous rumors associated with the relationship between Jiyeon and Hwayoung, dating back to the initial bullying allegations in 2012. Back then, a T-ARA backup dancer, known only as “B,” claimed Jiyeon had physically assaulted Hwayoung, a statement that led to widespread controversy. At that time, T-ARA’s management dismissed these assertions as baseless, but the recent comment has intensified calls for Jiyeon to clarify her stance.

Jiyeon’s Personal Life Update

In a separate yet equally significant development, Jiyeon took to social media on October 5, 2023, to announce her divorce from Hwang Jae-gyun after two years of marriage. She expressed her regret, stating, “I am sorry to deliver unfortunate news. We have agreed to undergo the divorce mediation process. I ask for your understanding for not addressing the issue sooner.”
