Following the announcement of their divorce on October 5, T-ARA’s Jiyeon and baseball star Hwang Jae Gyun created a stir online. In the wake of this news, Jiyeon is set to make her first official appearance.
The couple, who were married in December 2022, confirmed their separation less than two years later.
In a statement issued the same day, Jiyeon’s legal counsel, Attorney Choi Yuna from Taesung Law Firm, stated, “The couple has been unable to resolve their differences, leading to their decision to divorce. They have submitted a request for divorce mediation to the Seoul Family Court to initiate the formal process.”
The attorney further urged the public to avoid speculation, saying, “We kindly ask everyone to refrain from making conjectures.”
Amidst her divorce proceedings, Jiyeon will appear publicly for a fan meeting to celebrate T-ARA’s anniversary.
The beloved second-generation girl group will mark their 15th anniversary during an event scheduled in Macau.
This fan meeting will take place at the Broadway Theatre on October 7 at 5:00 PM, featuring performances from Jiyeon, Qri, Eunjung, and Hyomin as they delight fans with popular hits from their extensive catalog.
Fans are eagerly wondering if Jiyeon will address her recent personal situation during the meeting.
Speculations regarding Jiyeon and Hwang Jae Gyun’s tumultuous marriage surfaced in June, spurred by comments from broadcaster Lee Gwang Gil on the KNN baseball commentary team, who remarked, “Did you know that Hwang Jae Gyun got divorced?”
This revelation caught the team off guard, prompting Lee to suggest, “Let’s discuss this later.”
However, a representative from Jiyeon’s previous agency denied these claims, asserting that the rumors of divorce were “not accurate.”
Additionally, during this time, Jiyeon had also announced a hiatus from her YouTube channel, where she regularly shared personal vlogs prior to her break.
