As reported by Sports Seoul on October 7th, the trio of actors has officially confirmed their participation in “Taxi Driver 3.” While the project for “Taxi Driver 3” was announced back in April of the previous year, the specifics regarding the cast remained ambiguous until now. Amidst this uncertainty, the original leading cast from “Taxi Driver” has collectively agreed to reprise their roles.

The “Taxi Driver” franchise is adapted from a popular webtoon of the same name, centering on the narrative of the Rainbow Taxi Company and its driver, Kim Do-gi. This character embarks on a mission of personal vengeance for clients who have suffered injustices. The intriguing premise of a taxi driver pursuing wrongdoers has captivated audiences and provided rich, dynamic storytelling.

Since its debut, “Taxi Driver 2” has seen an ongoing increase in viewership, shattering its own records weekly. It has easily outperformed season 1, with a remarkable peak rating of 20.9% as reported by Nielsen Korea on a nationwide scale.

Internationally, “Taxi Driver” has garnered significant acclaim, becoming a prominent intellectual property for SBS. Within just ten days of its availability on Viu, Asia’s largest OTT platform, the series emerged as the most popular show in 16 territories, including Hong Kong, along with several regions across Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.

On MyDramaList, an esteemed review platform for international dramas, the series has achieved an impressive rating of 8.8, even securing the top spot in the popularity rankings for ongoing Korean dramas.

Lee Je-hoon, who portrayed the protagonist in both seasons 1 and 2, is set to return for the third installment. He will once again embody the role of Kim Do-gi, a former special forces operative and the leading driver for the Rainbow Taxi Company. In “Taxi Driver 2,” Lee Je-hoon showcased his adaptability through various character portrayals, demonstrating his skill in “multi-persona play.”

Kim Eui-sung is also confirmed to return, reprising his role as Jang Sung-chul, the director of both the Blue Bird Foundation—which aids crime victims—and Rainbow Taxi Company, which seeks to bring justice through force. Pyo Ye-jin will make her return as Ahn Go-eun, the brilliant hacker of the Rainbow Taxi Company.

Filming for “Taxi Driver 3” is set to commence in the latter half of this year, with an anticipated release in 2025.
