Taylor Sheridan’s brand is currently thriving on Paramount+, and the early viewership figures for his latest endeavor, Landman, suggest it is yet another triumph. This new series features the talented Billy Bob Thornton in the role of Tommy Norris, an M-TEX Oil landman, and marks a departure from Sheridan’s famed Yellowstone universe, showcasing diverse storytelling.
Recent statistics released by Paramount+ reveal that fans eagerly engaged with the series, dramatically boosting its visibility and success in its inaugural month of broadcast.
Landman Achieves Record Viewership on Paramount+
According to the network, Landman has achieved remarkable viewership, being streamed in 14.9 million global households within four weeks—from November 17 to December 14—establishing it as the top original series on Paramount+ to date. This impressive figure encompasses all original content, including both series and films, based on the platform’s internal metrics.
The record includes the viewership for the first five episodes, with two episodes made available on November 17. Landman is adapted from the 11-part podcast titled Boomtown, produced by Imperative Entertainment and Texas Monthly, and this first season will feature a total of ten episodes.
Sheridan’s productions have consistently attracted significant audiences, as evidenced by the Yellowstone finale, which recorded the highest single-day episode viewership on December 25, amassing 11.4 million viewers across Paramount Network and CMT, according to VideoAmp data. Paramount has not yet renewed its arrangement with Nielsen for viewership data.
While there has been no official announcement confirming a second season of Landman, the widespread acclaim and popularity of the show instill a sense of optimism among fans. Currently, the first six episodes are accessible on Paramount+, with new episodes slated for release every Sunday, leading up to the season finale on January 12, 2025. This should satisfy fans while they await the highly anticipated 1923 Season 2, set to premiere on February 23, 2025, exclusively on Paramount+.
