Teemo the LoL Mascot Unveils Adorable New Look in Art Update

The most notoriously disliked mascot in League of Legends has finally undergone an Art Sustainability Update, giving him an adorable new appearance.

If there’s one champion that League of Legends players find especially frustrating, it’s the cunning Yordle scout Teemo. Known to terrorize the top lane, Teemo has established himself as one of the most annoying and challenging champions to combat. His ability to go invisible, blind opponents—preventing them from auto-attacking—and the devastating damage from his hidden Noxious Traps have made him widely reviled.

This widespread disdain has unexpectedly turned Teemo into a mascot for the MOBA genre. His iconic green hat and golden fur are familiar sights, especially in promotional trailers and spin-off games.

One major issue with Teemo has been his outdated in-game model, which has not received any updates since its initial release in 2009. Now, 15 years later, developers are revitalizing this furry menace with a new look so he can continue to inflict misery on players for many more years.

Riot Games has finally showcased Teemo’s Art Sustainability Update (ASU) a year after its initial announcement. This update includes a new model, revised animations, and enhancements aimed at aligning older champions with the quality standards of current League of Legends designs.

The transformation from the old Teemo to the updated version is striking. His movements exhibit significantly more animation and liveliness. Additionally, his dance now features a quirky harmonica rendition, which is sure to irritate some. Teemo’s face has become much more expressive, embodying his cheerful scout persona.

All of Teemo’s skins will also receive similar updates, adopting the new animation style while preserving the distinct characteristics of each skin.

The Teemo ASU is expected to appear on the PBE starting on September 24 and will launch officially in Patch 14.20 on October 9, 2024.
