Tyson “TenZ”Ngo has not entirely dismissed the idea of returning to professional Valorant, suggesting that it may happen sooner than many anticipate, but fans shouldn’t expect an imminent return.
Sentinels supporters have experienced a rollercoaster of emotions as Tyson “TenZ”Ngo and Gustavo “Sacy”Rossi both announced their retirements on September 14 and September 15, leaving two roster spots open during the offseason.
In TenZ’s first post-announcement stream, he discussed his retirement, indicating that while he may be retired now, a return to the competitive scene could be on the horizon.
“I did say, I am retired currently but just let it be known that maybe one day… I might come back for a short period of time,” he shared.
In his initial announcement video, TenZ explained that he wasn’t completely ruling out serving as a substitute for Sentinels but is stepping back from a starting role in competitive play.
“I don’t think it’ll be soon, but it might not be as far away as people think,” he hinted at a potential future comeback. “I want to maintain some hope for those who enjoy watching me compete. Who knows.”
He reminisced about the 2022 LCQ when Sentinels temporarily signed shroud to their roster, even though he was technically retired.
TenZ’s last professional appearance was at Valorant Champions 2024.
“If [Sentinels] ever needed an emergency substitute, then they might know someone,” TenZ joked.
Currently, Sentinels has Rahul “curry” Nemani as their sixth player, making the possibility of TenZ stepping in as an emergency sub unlikely unless the team faces significant challenges. Nevertheless, the possibility remains.
There’s a chance we may see TenZ establish a new team for Premier competitions or participate in community tournaments in the future, but fans should not expect to see him on the VCT stage anytime soon.
