TenZ Shares Reasons for Not Going Pro in CS2

Recently retired Valorant star TenZ addressed a fan inquiry regarding his potential transition to the competitive scene in CS2. The former CS:GO competitor mentioned that the current level of professionalism in the game is exceptionally high, making it challenging for him to go pro.

The Sentinels content creator expressed that it would be “too hard” to compete in Counter-Strike 2 due to the presence of several elite players who outshine his skills. He reflected on his previous experiences, admitting that even at his best in CS:GO, he struggled to keep up with the top European players.

TenZ reminisced about when CS legends like s1mple and Zywoo would come to North America for tournaments and dominate the competition.

“I was playing Train against s1mple, and there was this one shot he hit on me… He flick one-deaged me. It was one of the craziest shots I’ve ever seen,” the streamer stated.

TenZ characterized Team Vitality’s ace Zywoo as a “killing machine” , portraying him as an unstoppable force in each match.

This perspective aligns with many others regarding the state of CS2 esports in North America. A significant number of players in the region have continuously struggled to compete against the top European teams. Furthermore, many major organizations based in the United States have transitioned to international or entirely European rosters.

During his time in professional Counter-Strike, TenZ didn’t achieve remarkable success. Being only a teenager, his most notable accomplishment was contributing to Cloud9’s fourth-place finish at a Blast event in 2019.

The former Valorant pro announced upon his retirement that he has no plans to return to esports, opting instead to concentrate on content creation and exploring new ventures in the influencer space.

TenZ attended TwitchCon this month alongside his partner, a commitment he could not fulfill earlier due to his professional obligations. However, even if there was an opportunity for him to return to competitive gaming, it seems he is not particularly inclined to do so.
