Terminator Zero, Dandadan and More Anime Leaked in Huge Netflix Breach

It seems that there has been a significant breach in Netflix’s security, as several titles including Dandadan, the remake of Ranma 1/2, Terminator Zero, the upcoming Mononoke movie, and possibly others have been leaked online.

On August 6, 2024, various media related to Terminator Zero, Dandadan, and Mappa’s remake of Ranma 1/2, as well as the new movie Mononoke the Movie: Phantom in the Rain, were released and quickly spread across the internet. Clips and full versions are being shared through social media and piracy sites.

The leaked copies, which have hardcoded timestamps, appear to have originated from somewhere in the production pipeline and are of low quality. While the exact source has not been confirmed, it is believed that the leaker responsible is from Netflix Japan. The affected releases lack subtitles or dubs for Japanese dialogue, further supporting this belief.

Currently, Dandadan is being distributed by the service in Japan and Crunchyroll internationally. Additionally, both Ranma 1/2 and Terminator will soon be available on Netflix globally. As of now, there is no confirmed international distributor for Mononoke the Movie, which recently premiered at the Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal on July 20, 2024.

Despite the leaks, there has been no acknowledgement or comment from Netflix or any of the other companies involved in these productions. The release for Dandadan is still scheduled for October, with a limited theatrical run beginning on September 13, and Ranma 1/2 is also expected to be released during this time, debuting on Netflix on October 6.

Although a specific release date for Mononoke has not yet been announced, it is expected to come out later this year due to its premiere at a festival. Additionally, Phantom in the Rain is the initial installment of a planned trilogy that will remake the beloved and fashionable anime series from 2007.

Yukinobu Tatsu’s popular manga is being brought to life by Dandadan, following the story of two high school students – one who doesn’t believe in ghosts and the other who denies the existence of UFOs. The two constantly challenge each other’s skepticism, leading to absurd situations. At Anime Expo 2024, the first two episodes received overwhelmingly positive feedback.

The series Ranma 1/2 is being remade from a beloved ’80s show that follows the story of a youthful martial artist who undergoes a gender transformation upon being exposed to specific temperatures.

We have contacted Netflix for a statement and will provide an update if we receive a response.
