It’s not due for release until next week, but the initial reactions to Terrifier 3 are already in. Thanks to its “extreme” opening scene, director Damien Leone has confirmed that at least nine audience members walked out during the film’s first screening.
Even among veteran horror aficionados, Leone’s work can be quite polarizing. Following the screening, Terrifier 3 has sparked criticism for the director’s willingness to portray children in perilous situations.
No spoilers ahead, but the much-anticipated threequel’s opening does involve children directly, to the extent that nine viewers left the theater shortly after it began.
Leone shared his thoughts on the matter, stating, “I did personally witness some crazy stuff at this UK screening!” He posted on X/Twitter.
One fan tweeted about the experience, saying, “I thought the dude next to me was going to throw up or have a panic attack so many times. Cinema first aiders are going to have a time next week.”
Another viewer chimed in, adding, “That means it’s even more exciting!”
In addition to the walkouts, there were reports of another moviegoer who allegedly vomited – though it remains unclear how far into Terrifier 3 they managed to stay.
The premiere did attempt to ease viewer anxiety. Upon arrival, attendees discovered thoughtfully branded barf bags positioned on their seats, along with a warning at the entrance notifying fans that medical assistance was available should they feel unwell.

This level of reaction shouldn’t surprise Leone or his devoted fan base. According to the cast, there are moments in the film that are so gory and brutal that even David Howard Thornton, the actor portraying the menacing Art the Clown, felt queasy.
Producer Phil Falcone has also suggested that viewers “won’t be disappointed” by the film’s darker aspects. “I don’t think it’s as light as Terrifier 2 was. But I believe fans are going to be satisfied, let me put it that way. I love where the franchise is heading,” he remarked.
Are they referring to the unsettling opening scene involving children? Or are there even more disturbing sequences waiting to be unveiled? The only way to discover the truth is to catch Terrifier 3 starting October 11.
