Terrifier 3 is gearing up to be the most significant installment in the franchise, potentially surpassing its predecessors’ total box office earnings within just one weekend. Predictions suggest it may even outdo the take of Joker 2.
Let’s be honest: prior to 2022, how many of you were familiar with Terrifier? Until the release of its second installment in US theaters, Art the Clown was a relatively obscure figure in the slasher genre. While he was featured in two short films and the initial horror movie found some success, it didn’t quite launch him into mainstream recognition.
However, Terrifier 2 shifted the landscape dramatically. News reports of audiences fainting, vomiting, and leaving theaters began circulating, sparking a cultural phenomenon that made a sequel with a larger budget an almost certain outcome.
Fast forward two years, and as October approaches, the buzz surrounding Terrifier 3’s release is intensifying.
Prepare for @TerrifierFilm 3 this weekend. Forecasting an opening of over $20 million, possibly even more. Numerous theaters are adding it today following the @jokermovie decline. It could see an impressively strong debut. pic.twitter.com/mUL75oPBKl

EmpireCity Box Office reports that Terrifier 3 is projected to achieve an impressive opening of around $20 million. This would be a remarkable feat, considering Terrifier 2 earned just over $15 million globally, while the original Terrifier made approximately $400,000, and All Hallow’s Eve was released straight to video.
“Numerous theaters are adding it today following the @jokermovie decline. It could see a truly impressive opening,” their tweet stated.
Joker: Folie à Deux premiered last week and has taken the spot as the top film worldwide, although that might change soon. Its Rotten Tomatoes rating has plummeted to the low 30s, and audience feedback is dismal, with many viewers expressing confusion and frustration over the film’s quality.
At this point, Joker 2 has grossed just over $114 million globally, which is more than $120 million less than what the original amassed in its opening weekend.
With Smile 2 launching next week on October 18 and horror fans eager for new content while Joker 2 anticipates a significant drop in viewership, Terrifier 3 seems perfectly positioned to dominate the box office.
