Prepare to be terrified in Texas this September as Art the Clown returns in the horror sequel Terrifier 3, premiering at Fantastic Fest 2024.

Terrifier is a rapidly expanding franchise, generating high levels of excitement for its upcoming third installment. Attendees of the genre festival Fantastic Fest will have the opportunity to be the first to see Art’s latest film, as Terrifier 3 will premiere on opening night.

On the same night, the Fantastic Fest gala screening will feature Never Let Go, a new movie from horror director Alexandre Aja (known for High Tension and Crawl). The film stars Halle Berry as a mother who safeguards her twin sons by tethering them to a rope, in order to shield them from… something. It is expected to be a busy evening.

From September 19 to 26, the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Austin, Texas will host Fantastic Fest, showcasing an array of bizarre and captivating films from around the world to enthusiastic crowds.

This year, animation is showcased through the new Dreamworks film The Wild Robot, a sci-fi tale that stars Lupita Nyong’o, Pedro Pascal, and Mark Hamill as voice actors. Additionally, there is Spermageddon, directed by Tommy Wirkola of Violent Night fame, a comedic musical about sperm.

Thrilling films are a crucial aspect of the festival, and this year, a new addition to the longstanding VHS franchise, titled V/H/S/BEYOND, will be featured. Additionally, there will be a documentary examining the influence and lasting effects of the horror classic The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, titled Chain Reaction.

The highly anticipated prequel to Rosemary’s Baby, Apartment 7A, will take Julie Garner on a journey to some sinister depths when she encounters a stranger who presents her with an opportunity for stardom.

In addition, the Cannes-winning comedy drama Anora, directed by Sean Baker, will bring a touch of sophistication to the setting with its story of a sex worker who marries the son of an oligarch. Similarly, The Rule of Jenny Pen, featuring John Lithgow and Geoffrey Rush in a battle at a nursing home, will also add to the elevated atmosphere.
