According to several foreign media outlets, such as CNN, David Cohen, Deputy Director of the CIA, announced at the annual National Security Conference on the 29th (local time) that the group behind the planned terror attack at Taylor Swift’s concert in Vienna had intended to harm tens of thousands of attendees.
The director also made note that the CIA, along with its partner, shared intelligence on a group associated with the Islamic State (IS). This valuable information aided Austrian authorities in the arrest of the suspects.
Following potential security threats, Taylor Swift’s concert in Vienna as part of her “The Eras”tour was cancelled. The three scheduled shows, which were supposed to take place at Ernst Happel Stadium, were ultimately canceled.
Following the conclusion of the European leg of the Eras Tour, Taylor took to her social media to share her thoughts.
“The cancellation of our Vienna shows was heartbreaking,”the pop star expressed. She also shared that the reason for the cancellations instilled a new feeling of anxiety and a heavy sense of responsibility, as many fans had made plans to attend the concerts. However, she also expressed gratitude towards the authorities for prioritizing safety and preventing potential loss of lives instead of just concerts.
