TFT Patch 14.9 set to rework Ghostly & Heavenly traits

In Patch 14.9, Ghostly and Heavenly traits in Teamfight Tactics will undergo a rework focused on enhancing their units rather than the entire army.

In Patch 14.9, Teamfight Tactics is set to revamp the Ghostly and Heavenly traits. Instead of providing buffs to all units in the army, these traits will now solely enhance their respective units, resulting in reduced flexibility.

The creation of Spectres by Ghostly results in enemies being haunted and taking increased damage from all units. This led to the development of a strategy where Senna is paired with 6 Ghostly units, relying on non-Ghostly units to defeat the entire enemy team. As a result, none of the Ghostly units serve as the main carry of the composition, making the trait purely supportive.

Therefore, the developers will be increasing the damage per Spectre in Patch 14.9, but only for Ghostly units. This will give an opportunity for individual units such as Caitlyn, Kayn, and Morgana to showcase their potential, instead of being overshadowed by the trait.

Likewise, in Set 11, Heavenly was intended to be the top choice for reroll traits. It granted additional stats to the entire army based on the star level of each unit placed, encouraging players to reroll for Heavenly units in order to optimize their bonus stats.

Despite many players preferring to tech in the trait to other comps, giving them the bonus stats while avoiding some of the weaker Heavenly units, this was not the case. However, Patch 14.9 aims to address this by granting Heavenly units a 100% increase in bonuses compared to before.

This significant buff to the Heavenly reroll composition aligns with the developers’ original vision for Set 11, suggesting that the meta may undergo a major shift when the update is released on May 1, 2024.
