“Thank you Mami” trends as Rhea Ripley relinquishes her WWE championship

Despite Rhea Ripley’s 380-day reign as Women’s World Champion coming to an end, WWE fans continue to show their support for Ripley on social media.

Following her triumphant “passing of the torch”win over Becky Lynch at Wrestlemania 40, Rhea Ripley’s dominance in the women’s division continued without any signs of weakening.

However, Ripley was dealt a brutal blow by the injury gods. This occurred after she got into a backstage altercation with her rival, Liv Morgan. As a result of this, “Mami”suffered a devastating shoulder injury.

As the April 15 episode of Monday Night RAW approached, speculation grew about Ripley giving up her belt. She confirmed these rumors at the beginning of the show’s opening segment.

Ripley disclosed that she would have to relinquish the Women’s World Championship due to her shoulder injury, a title she had proudly held for more than a year.

Following the news of Ripley’s segment, wrestling fans took to the internet to shower her with overwhelming praise. Within minutes, she began trending on X.

The WWE’s official account shared a post that simply read, “#ThankYouMami,”which gained rapid attention on the internet. Fans expressed their emotional reactions to the situation.

A user expressed that ultimately, no one was capable of taking Rhea [Ripley]’s crown, so she took it upon herself to do so.

Some people raised concerns about why Ripley was removed as champion when Roman Reigns was absent from television for several weeks during his 3-year reign.

“A fan on X questioned why Roman [Reigns] could go several months without defending his title while Mami couldn’t.”

During her fiery opening promo on RAW, Ripley declared that she would seek revenge on Morgan upon her return. The two even had a confrontation before being separated by WWE officials.

It is worth noting that fans of WWE will recall the longstanding animosity between Ripley and Morgan, which has been ongoing for several months.

Before a conflict arose between them, the two were previously united as tag team partners. This conflict was sparked by an assault by Ripley on her ex-WWE partner.

According to reports, Ripley inflicted a severe beating on Morgan, resulting in the latter being out of action for several months. However, it was believed to be a staged injury for the purpose of storytelling in the wrestling industry rather than a genuine ailment.

After making a surprising comeback at the 2024 Royal Rumble, Morgan was determined to seek revenge by challenging for the championship. However, their highly anticipated match will have to be postponed for the time being.

On the April 8 episode of Monday Night RAW, Morgan attacked Ripley backstage. Merely a week later, the title for the Women’s World Championship has been declared vacant.

Initially, certain fans believed that this was a repeat of Morgan’s previous injury. However, Ripley quickly dispelled this idea by confirming that a significant injury had indeed taken place during their latest altercation.

Despite this heartbreaking outcome for Ripley, she vowed to come back better than ever and reclaim her championship in the process.

Her significant other, Buddy Mathews, has promised her triumphant return to the pinnacle of the WWE. He reassured fans that Ripley would come back even “bigger”and “stronger”than before.

Due to Ripley’s announcement that she would be taking a few months off, Morgan is considered to be the leading candidate for the currently unoccupied title.

It is a logical move for the WWE to award the belt to Morgan while Ripley is away. This sets the stage for their ongoing feud to reach its climax when “The Eradicator”finally makes a comeback from their injury.

During this time, Ripley will not be featured on WWE programming. However, once she has fully recovered, fans can anticipate Mami targeting Morgan as soon as possible.
