The highly anticipated premiere of season 3 episode 1 of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime aired on April 5, 2024, at 11 pm JST as part of Nippon Television’s Friday Anime Night time slot. After a three-year hiatus, fans were thrilled to see the return of familiar faces such as Rimuru Tempest, Diablo, Veldora and more.
After picking up where the previous installment left off, the first episode of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime season 3 episode 1 follows Rimuru Tempest’s return to his homeland, Tempest, after attending Walpurgis. During his return, he receives information from Diablo about Falmuth’s downfall and their future intentions.

The Return of Rimuru: Highlights from That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 3 Episode 1
The first episode of season 3 of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime continues the story from the previous season, with Rimuru Tempest recounting his recent adventures.
He discloses his triumphant victory over Clayman, which resulted in his official recognition as a Demon Lord and a member of the Eight-Star Demon Lords, Octagram. The subsequent scene portrays him relishing a lavish feast with fellow Demon Lords at Walpurgis.
As Rimuru is captivated by the delectable food, he turns to Raphael and requests an analysis of the recipe. The atmosphere lightens as Milim playfully teases the new Demon Lord, reminding him of how he fell for her trick of pretending to be under someone else’s control.
Upon completing his business at the Walpurgis, Rimuru Tempest returns to his land, Tempest, in That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime season 3 episode 1. He is warmly welcomed back by Rigurd, Gobta, and the other residents of the land.
Upon his return to Tempest, Diablo greets Rimuru and expresses his delight at Rimuru’s induction into the Octagram. Later, at the Capital Building, Rimuru is treated to his beloved Matcha pudding. It is revealed that Veldora had shared information with Diablo in return for food.
Rimuru Learns About the Falmuth Incident from Diablo
In That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime season 3 episode 1, Diablo engages in playful conversation before informing Rimuru about the task he was given during his absence. Along with other members of the Jura Tempest, the Demon butler was tasked with escorting prisoners to Falmuth.
Despite his realization that Shion had been excessively cruel to the captives, reducing them to mere flesh, he used his unique magic to restore Razen and the others to their true forms. In return, they pledged their unwavering allegiance to Rimuru and promised to aid in their shared cause.
Upon realizing that the Kingdom of Falmuth had awoken Rimuru Tempest, a sleeping lion, Razen also recognized the formidable strength of Diablo. Therefore, it was an obvious decision for him to pledge his alliance.
Similarly, the King of Falmuth came to the realization that he was unable to continue the war. Interestingly, Diablo devised a plan and instructed Razen to create a false narrative for the nobles upon their arrival at the Kingdom of Falmuth, in order to ensure that they held Rimuru Tempest in high regard.
The Falmuth sorcerer informed the nobles that their troops had been defeated by a dormant dragon that was roused by their conflict. Sir Reyhiem, the archbishop of the Western Holy Church, arrived and reiterated that without the aid of Rimuru Tempest, they would not have been able to survive.
Additionally, he brought up Rimuru’s conversation with the sleeping dragon, Veldora, which successfully pacified him. After that, Razen shared his first-hand account of the monsters’ town that he had seen.
Without a doubt, the nobles were astonished upon hearing about Rimuru’s accomplishments and came to the realization that they had made a serious mistake in declaring war against them. Consequently, they inquired about the possibility of reaching a compromise.
Despite Rimuru’s efforts towards achieving a peaceful co-existence between humans and monsters, Youm Farmenas disclosed that he was still unable to overlook the loss of many of his comrades in the war. As a result, the Kingdom of Falmuth had to surrender.
After receiving the nobles’ agreement, Diablo freed the king and returned him to his original state. He then announced that there would be a meeting to discuss peace between the kingdoms in one week. The Demon butler then stated that the Falmuth nobles were now faced with three options to choose from.
The first option entails the king’s abdication and the nation’s responsibility to pay for war reparations. Alternatively, they could choose to surrender to Rimuru’s nation and become a vassal state. The final option was to persist with the war.
Prior to his departure from the hall, Diablo made a strong declaration that if they did not receive any communication from Falmouth within a week, his kingdom would presume that Falmouth desired to prolong the war.
Following that, That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime season 3 episode 1 comes back to the present. Diablo clarifies to Rimuru that Falmuth is left with no other option but to choose the first course of action. They lack the resources to sustain the war and are not willing to become a vassal state.
At that moment, Rimuru Tempest senses that the nobles might opt for a third party to cover the cost of the war reparations.
As the king prepares to abdicate his throne, it is likely that he will also lose his political support. This has led Diablo to speculate that he may be held accountable for the crisis and ultimately be seen as the “third party”involved.
Despite facing opposition from everyone, the king may have no choice but to turn to Youm for assistance, ultimately relying on Rimuru’s aid in an indirect manner.
The first episode of That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime season 3 concludes with Diablo reassuring Rimuru that he will personally join the battle if the next king forms an alliance with the neighboring kingdoms.
