That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 3 Finale Explained: The Council of the West’s Letter to Rimuru Tempest

While That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime season 3 wrapped up successfully on September 27, 2024, the finale’s closing scene invites intriguing discussion. The episode concluded with dignitaries from neighboring nations of Jura Tempest returning home after experiencing a lavish reception hosted by Rimuru Tempest during his town’s Founder’s Festival.

Furthermore, Rimuru speculated that Yuuki Kagurazaka, the Grandmaster of the Free Guild, may have been collaborating with Eastern merchants. However, this was not the extent of the episode’s revelations. Before the end credits, Rimuru Tempest disclosed that one month post-Founder’s Festival, Jura Tempest received a letter from the Council of the West.

So, what prompted the Council to send Rimuru a letter? Those familiar with the light novels know that it was a ploy orchestrated by Mariabell Rozzo, who sent the letter on behalf of the Council, inviting the Slime to one of their meetings. Her intentions were nefarious, aiming to ensnare Rimuru in a political trap while planning to assassinate him.

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 3 Finale: Unpacking Mariabell’s Letter to Rimuru

Mariabell Rozzo, the ambitious Otherworlder in That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime season 3, was fuelled by an intense desire for dominance over other nations. With her unique ability, “Greed”, she aspired to control her subjects and raise the reputation of the Rozzo family.

Nonetheless, Rimuru Tempest’s status as a Demon Lord, along with his town’s development, popularity, and acclaim, became significant obstacles, thwarting Mariabell’s ambitions. Throughout That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime season 3, Mariabell faced several setbacks at the hands of Rimuru.

For instance, her scheme to leverage the Eastern merchants to incite a conflict between Rimuru of Jura Tempest and Hinata Sakaguchi from the Western Holy Church failed miserably. Similarly, she could not tarnish Rimuru or the reputation of Jura Tempest during the Founder’s Festival.

Consequently, she resolved to eliminate Rimuru entirely. The That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime season 3 finale showcased Granbell Rozzo, Mariabell’s grandfather, delegating the task of planning Rimuru’s downfall to her. It’s interesting to note that Mariabell was aware of Rimuru Tempest’s desire to foster a peaceful coexistence between monsters and humans.

Although Rimuru’s vision was showcased at the Founder’s Festival to the neighboring nations of Jura Tempest, some human realms continued to regard the Slime’s Monster Nation with skepticism.

Thus, Rimuru aimed to join the Council of the West to forge stronger ties with these human nations and communicate his vision of harmonious coexistence between monsters and humans.

Interestingly, the Council was established by Granbell Rozzo to tackle the imminent threats posed by monsters. Over time, the Council’s scope broadened to monitor the influence of the Eastern Empire, and the Rozzo family wielded considerable power within it.

Mariabell Rozzo, recognized as the most formidable member of her family thanks to her unique ability, Greed, operated covertly, making it easier for her to manipulate events. After conferring with Yuuki, she determined it was prudent to invite Rimuru to the Council of the West’s conference.

Her plan was to entrap Rimuru and his executives politically, framing them for the assassination of Prince Elric Von Engrassia. However, her scheme did not succeed. Moreover, Mariabell aimed to utilize Reiner to subdue Rimuru with the Orb of Domination.

Yet, Rimuru managed to negate the Orb’s magic without entirely destroying it. In addition, Mariabell orchestrated another assassination attempt on Rimuru via Glenda but was thwarted by Souei. Rimuru Tempest’s quick thinking and the responsiveness of his executives ultimately foiled Mariabell’s plans, leading to Jura Tempest being recognized as a legitimate nation within the Council.
