New episodes of The Acolyte will be released today, however it has been confirmed that a key Star Wars character will not make an appearance.
The Acolyte is set to change the Star Wars timeline permanently by exploring the early origins of 132 BBY.
Despite the introduction of new Star Wars characters, speculation about the return of beloved characters has been ongoing since the show was first announced. However, it has now been officially stated that Jedi Master Yoda will not make an appearance in The Acolyte.
“When asked by ComicBook.com if we could expect to see Yoda in The Acolyte, showrunner Leslye Headland responded, “Can you imagine?”She expressed her disbelief at the idea of being given permission to use such an iconic character without any obstacles. “
“No, we are only including characters from the High Republic and the EU,”she clarified.
Despite Yoda’s absence from the High Republic Era due to his responsibilities elsewhere in the galaxy, his potential appearance in some form in The Acolyte makes sense given the significant role of the Jedi Order in the story.
The level of involvement of the Jedi Council in the show is still uncertain, which could determine whether Yoda would have been aware of the numerous mysterious murders of Jedi that appear to be occurring during that period. Due to the perilous circumstances, it is probable that the Jedi do not want information to reach the high council.
Despite the absence of Yoda, fans are divided on whether it is the right decision for him to appear in The Acolyte.
“According to one fan on Reddit, Yoda should have a minor role in the show as he is a crucial member of the Jedi Order. Another fan chimed in, stating that it would be strange if Yoda was not featured in the show.”
A third person added, “It would be a huge disappointment if Yoda did not make an appearance in the show. It is widely acknowledged that he should play a significant role in this timeline, even if he has not yet become the grandmaster. To exclude him completely would be unthinkable.”
“One person predicted that Yoda would likely be mentioned in the show at some point, but another disagreed and expressed their dislike for shows that bring in characters solely for the sake of it. They compared it to Marvel’s use of Stan Lee cameos.
