The Acolyte star blames hateful “bigots” for Star Wars show’s cancelation

Following the controversial cancelation of The Acoloyte, a star has spoken out against the “bigots”who used “hateful language”to attack the Star Wars show.

The Acolyte has significantly altered the Star Wars timeline, but this change has not been well-received by many. Despite airing for only eight episodes and being on air for just a month, the new TV show has been permanently cancelled. However, the exact reason for its cancellation remains a topic of debate.

Despite the uproar on the internet since the news was announced, the show’s creator Leslye Headland and its cast have remained silent. However, Amandla Stenberg, the show’s lead actress, has recently spoken out and believes that “bigots”are responsible for the controversy.

The celebrity used her Instagram stories to express that the choice was not a complete surprise. She also mentioned that there has been a constant stream of vicious attacks and discrimination since the show was first announced, specifically targeting conservative viewpoints and promoting hate and intolerance.

Stenberg responded to hate during the live stream of the show by releasing a video around the time of Juneteenth, when the TV show was initially titled “The Wokelyte.”

As she filmed her own music video, she expressed, “They are distorting and misusing the term ‘woke’ and taking it as their own. Let’s not forget that ‘woke’ was a term we originated, to stand up against oppression and call out ignorant racists.”

“And now, the term is being used to describe anything that causes fear or intimidation… but its original purpose was to raise awareness about bigotry and the strength of community, not to be exploited for clickbait.”

“A fan responded to her latest statement on X/Twitter, exclaiming “Say it louder Amandla!!! The Star Wars fandom sucks,”in agreement with her sentiment.”

A second person expressed their opinion, stating, “The Acolyte may not be my cup of tea, but I sympathize with her. She deserved better.”Similarly, a third individual concurred, “I completely agree with her. From the moment The Acolyte was announced, the same so-called fans have dedicated their miserable lives to boycotting and criticizing it.”

“The Star Wars fanbase is known for its toxicity and tendency to view the main antagonist as the central focus in every project.”

Despite the official explanation being a lack of viewership, the true reason for The Acolyte Season 2 not being greenlit is due to its lower engagement and viewership in comparison to other highly popular Star Wars shows like Andor and Ahsoka. This is evident in the statistics, with Episode 8 being recorded as the least watched Star Wars finale to date.

The Acolyte can be streamed on Disney Plus. You can also anticipate upcoming Star Wars films such as New Jedi Order, Dawn of the Jedi, and the Lando movie.
