The Actions of Urokodaki towards Nezuko in the Beginning of Demon Slayer: An Explanation

Nezuko Kamado, a character from the popular series Demon Slayer, is highly adored for her unwavering determination and strength throughout the series. She is the sister of Tanjiro Kamado, who was transformed into a demon by Muzan. Muzan targeted the Kamado family due to their possible connection to the Breath of the Sun and murdered all of them except for one.

Despite her demonic nature, Nezuko refused to harm Tanjiro Kamado and even shielded him from Giyu Tomioka. This unexpected action prevented Giyu from attacking her and led to him sending Tanjiro and Nezuko to Sakonji Urokodaki, the Water Hashira.

Sakonji Urokodaki, the former Water Hashira, took Giyu under his guidance and did something to Nezuko that prevented her from harming humans. Fans are left wondering what exactly he did to Nezuko, and the answer is that he used hypnosis to alter her thought processes.

During Tanjiro’s training for the Final Selection, Sakonji Urokodaki performed hypnosis on Nezuko Kamado, causing her to remain in a deep sleep for several months. This allowed Urokodaki to manipulate Nezuko’s thoughts and alter her mindset.

For months, he consistently drilled a specific train of thought into Tanjiro’s mind until he finished his training and passed his Final Selection. Upon Tanjiro’s return to Urokodaki’s home, he was greeted by his sister and the two never turned back.

How Hypnosis Allowed Her to Live and Travel with Tanjiro

Despite his advanced intelligence, Urokodaki’s true brilliance shone through in the way he aided Nezuko. Recognizing the rarity of her situation, he saw past her demon form and recognized her inherent goodness. He firmly believed that with enough determination, the siblings could ultimately restore Nezuko to her human form.

In the meantime, his main concern was that Nezuko would not harm any human. If she were to do so, both Urokodaki and Giyu Tomioka would sacrifice their own lives to make amends. Urokodaki was aware of Nezuko’s other siblings from her past life, and he used hypnosis to make her see every human as a member of her own family. This ensured that Nezuko never caused harm to any human throughout the series.

Although she didn’t eat human flesh, the only way for her to regain her energy was by taking extremely long naps. Nevertheless, there was a moment of danger during the Entertainment District arc when Nezuko underwent a transformation that greatly improved her strength and combat abilities.

Despite this, she also experienced a moment of uncontrollable rage and almost took the life of a human being. Fortunately, Tanjiro Kamado intervened just in time and saved not only the innocent human, but also Urokodaki and Giyu Tomioka from harm.
