The Aging Devil: Chainsaw Man’s Most Sinister Villain Yet, and Its Offer to Public Safety Proves It

The third confirmed Primal Fear in The Chainsaw Man manga has been revealed as the Aging Devil. This addition joins the previously known Primal Fears, the Fallen Devil and Darkness Devil, which were the only examples available to readers. It is worth noting that neither of these devils displayed a tendency for “evil for the sake of evil.”

On the other hand, the Aging Devil’s unique pact, which requires the sacrifice of Japanese infants in front of mirrors, may arguably make it the most malevolent and “trivial”devil introduced in the series thus far.

Chainsaw Man: The Aging Devil’s Sinister Deal to Help a Different Devil

In the 174th chapter of Chainsaw Man, the true identity of the recently introduced devil from chapter 173 was unveiled. Despite the devil’s distinctive theme and sharp intelligence leading to speculation about a connection to mutilation, it was ultimately revealed to be the “Aging Devil.”

Chapter 173 centered on proving that the Public Safety Department purposely orchestrated the Ear Devil’s consumption as a means of testing the Hero of Hell’s ability to erase concepts and the resulting consequences. Although Chapter 174 revealed the surprising ability of hearing to persist in a world without ears, the most significant development was the unsettling agreement made between the Public Safety Department and the Aging Devil.

Despite the Aging Devil’s agreement to be consumed by the Hero of Hell, its conditions were disturbing. It required the sacrifice of ten thousand children under the age of 9 in front of mirrors, suggesting its potential for pettiness.

Despite the common portrayal of devils as inherently wicked in various forms of media, the Aging Devil’s actions are the first example of a devil being malicious solely for the sake of it. It should be noted that the sacrifice holds no advantage for the Aging Devil, as it will soon be destroyed by the Hero of Hell.

The initial form of communication between humans and the Aging Devil was demonstrated through the use of mirrors. The Public Safety Department resorted to writing characters on the mirror with blood in order to convey messages to the primordial devil. This indicates that the sacrificing of “infants”may have been done solely for the sake of entertainment and pleasure.

Despite much speculation, the true effects and intricacies of concept erasure remain a enigma. The full impact of Chainsaw Man’s erasure abilities is yet to be discovered, leaving open the possibility that the Aging Devil is attempting to vilify humans by portraying their pursuit of erasing aging as morally questionable. Ultimately, this sacrifice could ultimately prove to be detrimental for humanity, resulting in a net loss rather than a gain.

Final Thoughts

While it has not been previously established that Primordial devils form alliances, the Aging Devil may be orchestrating the sacrifice of ten thousand “infants”in order to either strengthen itself or, more likely, benefit the Death Devil. The release of Chapter 175 is scheduled for August 20, 2024.
