The screening of the film Haikyu!! has finally started in Japanese cinemas, and the manga’s author has some things to say about it.
Initially, Haikyu!! is a manga, subtitled “Volleyball Aces” , and signed by Haruichi Furudate. Adapted into an anime, the story that follows Shoyo Hinata and Tobio Kageyama within their club quickly convinced a large audience.
Followed throughout its four seasons, the series however stopped in 2020… to announce a finale in two feature films, in which Karasuno and Nekoma high schools will finally face each other. The first, Haikyu!! the Movie: Decisive Battle at the Garbage Dump, was released on February 16, 2024, and it is already a hit at the cinema.
For the occasion, author Haruichi Furudate decided to speak out on social networks, inviting fans to go to theaters to see the film on the big screen.

Author Haruichi Furudate’s message was shared on Haikyu!!’s official X/Twitter account, along with a special sketch by Kenma to promote the feature film.

“The time has finally come for the release of Haikyu!!: Decisive Battle at the Garbage Dump, starting today, February 16! Even Furudate Sensei, who had the opportunity to see it in advance, enthusiastically approved! An exciting, freshly created drawing and commentary has reached us! In the cinemas, let’s unite and shout together!”
In the sketch presented by the author, we can read a comment: “It’s finally time to witness the final battle of the dump! Were you able to see the film? Be careful: as you get closer to its second half, you start to run out of breath! The climactic battle starts in the manga around volume 33, and I felt a little more confident in the expression designs at that point. I found it crazy. It had to be adapted into an anime! I definitely recommend watching the movie, and I hope everyone can see it on the big screen. ”
The movie Haikyu!! a hit in Japanese cinemas: soon a release in France?
The film has already been a great success: it had the fourth best opening day in the history of the Japanese box office! Decisive Battle at the Garbage Dump is placed just behind Jujutsu Kaisen 0, One Piece Film: Red and Demon Slayer: The Infinity Train.
It thus exceeded the results of the recent release Demon Slayer: Road to the Training of the Pillars which had already obtained a superb score for a preview of season 4.
If at this point Haikyu!! the Movie: Decisive Battle at the Garbage Dump has not yet received an official announcement for a release outside of Japan, such results remain encouraging, proving that the public can show up.
