The third season of The Bear will be released this week, and fans are relieved to hear that there won’t be a major romantic plot included.
Despite two years passing, it appears that the most exceptional workplace romance on television has been right in front of us all along. Nonetheless, The Bear Season 3 has confirmed that there will not be any romantic development between Carmy (Jeremy Allen White) and Syd (Ayo Edebiri).
Despite never officially acting on their chemistry, many fans have sensed a strong connection between Carmy and Sydney from the start. During a recent press conference [via Vanity Fair], White clarified that there were no discussions about a potential romantic relationship between the two characters.
Despite fans’ expectations for a platonic brother-sister dynamic, their hopes for a slow-burn romance between the two characters have ultimately been dashed.
“Exactly. I’m exhausted from constantly seeing on TV that just because two main characters share screen time, they are expected to get together,”a fan pointed out on X/Twitter.
It is entirely feasible to have a platonic relationship with someone of the opposite gender. Furthermore, I believe that if the two individuals were to become romantically involved, it could potentially disrupt the professional dynamic that everyone has established.
One person also stated, “I fully agree, although I was hoping to see some romantic tension between them, I understand the decision not to pursue it. It would have caused a lot of chaos for them as business partners.”
“I am overjoyed to hear this. Their potential romantic involvement would be unoriginal and uninteresting,”a third person added.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Edebiri had previously addressed the “frustration” over romantic assumptions being made between the two characters. She stated, “While I understand it can be a part of a show’s culture, it’s not our thought process when we’re creating the show. Therefore, I don’t believe viewers will get what they are hoping for.”
The highly anticipated Disney Plus release raises a multitude of questions, none of which pertain to romantic subplots in any way.
Despite causing stress among fans from the beginning, the show’s trailers hinted at a rehashing of its most traumatic episode, which famously depicted the Christmas disaster.
As stated in the season synopsis, “Carmy’s intense drive and high standards push his crew to their limits, as they strive to meet his level of excellence.”This sets the stage for a competitive atmosphere in the kitchen.
