A Brief Overview of The Bear Season 2 for New Viewers
The importance of the evening’s service is evident in Carmy’s outburst in the final episode of The Bear season 2. His breakdown is represented by a vision of his former abusive Chef de Cuisine (Joel McHale) whom he imagines to be present among the diners.
As the customers arrive and the orders begin to pile up, he becomes extremely agitated with Sydney. However, she handles the situation with great calmness and manages to keep everything under control for the remainder of the service. Everything seems to be going well until he enters the chiller and gets accidentally locked in. While trapped inside, he starts to doubt his abilities and dedication.
Carmy mistakenly attributed his success to not being in a relationship in the past, and unfairly projected his perceived failure onto Claire.
After hearing this, Claire apologized to him and walked away, leaving Carmy alone in front of the open fridge, calling out her name desperately. Following the tense encounter with Richie, Carmy listened to a voicemail from Claire that was filled with love and support. He eventually deleted it and broke down.
